Matthew 2:1-2 The Magi And The Mazzeroth, Part One

After Y'shua (Jesus) was born in Beit-Lechem (Bethlehem), in the land of Y’hudah (Judah) during the time when Herod was king, Magi from the east came to Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) and asked, “Where is the newborn King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”

Here we have Magi, from the east, coming to see the Messiah, the newborn King. Who are these Magi? Where did they come from? How did they know about the star and it's significance?

Good questions. From biblical and historical accounts, we know that the Magi were originally soothsayers, from the time of the Babylonian King, Nebuchadnezzar, between 604-561 BC. If you remember, God used Nebuchadnezzar to punish Israel, by subjecting Israel to the king's servitude, for 70 years.

I have to add, that the 70 years was exactly how long Jeremiah prophesied, concerning the coming judgement of Israel, for not obeying God's commandment about giving the land, a Shabbat, a rest. 2 Chron. 36:21 Jeremiah 25:11.

The Magi originally interpreted dreams, for the king, but was taken to a higher level of understanding, when Dani'el dramatically arrived of the scene and became one of them, most likely their leader and began to fill them in on God's plan. He showed them the Mazzeroth, and how God wrote his plan, in the stars. The Magi continues today, within the Remnant of God.

Next time, we'll go over the Mazzaroth and how the Magi recognized the Star of the Messiah.

  1. Very interesting Keith,
I will read up on these chapters when I am a little less busy in the house. I always associate 'Babylon' with the spiritually confused part of the church (Word of God mixed with man's doctrine). Lots more I could say, as I believe you could.

  3. Hi Keith,
still haven't had time to study anything but what I have noticed is that the latest post on unsealed.org's blog on my side bar is much about the stars and signs in the heavens. I haven't had time to read it, but you might be interested in it - I don't know. Just thought I'd mention it.

  4. Hi Keith,
regarding Daniel, what always comes to my mind when I think about him is the fact that he did not eat the rich food of the king of Babylon. This always reminds me of a warning not to 'eat' the doctrine of man anywhere which may be added to the Word of God.
Babylon, I believe, comes from the word for 'confusion', and there can be much 'confusion' in the spiritual food given by some of the 'kings' (leaders, as in being 'kings and priests') within the church who are in spiritual Babylon through adding man's doctrine to the Word of God.

I believe that those who do not eat that 'rich food' will grow in the Lord and be spiritually as Daniel was, and could be used in the same way by God for interpreting dreams and many other things.

  5. Keith,
I just looked up the word Mazzeroth and I can not believe how fascinating the write up is. I feel I have to know more about it, and will have to read as much as I can of it no matter how long it takes. I do not think it is coincidence that both you and unsealed.org are both speaking about it at the same time.

I have always believed that there is a reason for the time we are all born and that the stars represented God's people - that there is a connection with the heavens as I see much of it mentioned in the scriptures and, as you know, I believe that the sun represents Jesus and the moon the church (which can only reflect the light of the sun)according to one day being as a thousand years with God.
There is so much I could say, but I believe all of us could.

  6. Hi Keith,
we have not heard from you for a while, I hope you and your family are well. Just to say that I read a post on a blog this morning and the person who wrote it is asking if anyone understands the Hebrew language.
I hope you do not mind, but I have given him your blog websites so he can get in touch with you if he wishes.
    His blogsite is:-

  7. Hi Brenda, Last week, I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery. I haven't recuperated, as quick as expected. I have no problem referring anyone, who wishes to learn and/or understand Hebrew. As a matter of fact, I was thinking about what you said about a blog or YouTube about teaching the Hebrew language.

  9. Hi Brenda, I'm sorry for not getting back sooner. I am working on the follow up to this post and should be ready soon. It is so cool that others are getting back to the scriptures, concerning the old ways. As for the Mazzaroth, God's plan is spelled out, from the beginning, as it is stated in B'resheit 1:14.

And Elohim said, "Let there be luminaries in the expanse of the heavens, to separate between the day and between the night, and they shall be for SIGNS and for APOINTED SEASONS and for days and years."

Since our youth, we have been told of the stories of the stars, how

Virgo, the Virgin, that would bring forth salvation
Libra, to show disobedience brings death, obedience brings life.
Scorpius, sin brings death through following Satan.
Sagittarius, Satan has demons, to help lead us away from HaShem
Capricorn, Satan will intermingle with the Remnant, to corrupt it.
Aquarius Shows God's Word as Living water.
Pisces, God's children will be a remnant within the world.
    Aries, Reconciliation requires Sacrifice
    Taurus, Elohim will rise up
Gemini reflects the dual nature of the Mashiach.
Cancer, the redeemed would be seen as a malignancy in the world.
Leo, The King Mashiach would gather his children back into the land.

Many gentiles bring up the sensationalistic parts of the Mazzeroth, because it tickles our ears, but ignore the other parts. I am glad that Ruach is drawing you nearer to his truth.

  10. I have always loved what the Spirit (Ruach) teaches.
Do not worry about the time of when you post something Keith - there is a time for everything, and God's timing is perfect.
God bless you and your family.
