Matthew 1:12-17 God Names The Messiah

After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel the father of Abihud, Abihud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Elihud, Elihud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.

I would like to start off with the last verse, first. If you are into numerology, at all, the first thing that jumps out at you, is the fact that there are three sets of 14 generations in the genealogy of Y'shua, Jesus. The number 14, if studied, has a commonality with deliverance or salvation and is used twenty-two times in the Bible.

For example, the fourteenth day of the first month, Nisan, is the Passover, when God delivered the firstborn of Israel from death. Some 430 years earlier, on the night of the 14th day of the Nisan, God made two covenant salvational or deliverance promises to Abraham, one of a physical seed, Isaac, and his descendants, and one of the spiritual seed, Y'shua, Jesus, and the sons of God who would come through Him.

Jeconiah = whom Yahweh establishes or Yahweh will establish
Shealtiel = have asked God or requested of God
Zerubbabel = a result out of Babel, or a number of voices crying out.
Abihud = my father is impressive, dignity, or beauty. royal power
Eliakim = God will raise up
Azor = helper or right hand man
Zadok = he is just
Akim = whom the Lord has established
Elihud = God's Oath, or promise, or covenant
Eleazar = counselor of God
Matthan = gift of God
Jacob = heel-catcher or supplanter. Supplanter means to take the rightful place of another.
Joseph = Yahweh will manifest
Jesus = Yahweh is salvation, salvation through Yahweh, Yahweh Saves.

Let's put them together, in a sentence.

Whom Yahweh establishes, Yahweh will establish, asked or requested of God, by a number of voices crying out.

This part proclaims the sovereignty of Yahweh. He will do what has said he would do. This is also what many voices or prayers have requested.

My Father is impressive, full of dignity, beauty and power. He(God) will raise up his right hand man, for he is just, whom the Lord has established, by God's convenant.

Here is the Word of God praising Yahweh for performing what he has established through his Word. God will raise up a man, who is just, who God has promised by his oath or covenant.

Counselor of God, Gift of God, The One Who Will Take The Place of Another. Yahweh will manifest Yeshua, Jesus, which is salvation through Yahweh.

This one is self-explanatory. Yahweh will manifest or bring forth salvation through Yahweh, by the name of Y'shua, which means Yahweh Saves. This man will be called Counselor of God, Gift of God, The One Who Will Take The Place of Another.

In retrospect, in the first third of the genealogy, God proclaims that he has beaten Satan, by initiating a salvation path through the seed of a Woman. This seed will be a man with the power or strength of Yahweh, himself, that will take on the covering of all our sins.

The second set of 14 names shows that the reason for a renewed covenant.

Here, in the last set of names, Yahweh, names the Messiah and shows us the Messianic line, that leads straight to Y'shua, Jesus. Once again, utterly amazing.
